On a mission to create a world without blood cancers, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) operates globally and makes an enormous impact on the lives of local patients and their families. In the Charleston community, and across the state, the organization plays an integral role. In 2022, nearly 2,000 patients received co-pay financial assistance and more than 1,000 benefited from general financial assistance (encompassing rent, utilities, childcare, clothing, and more) in South Carolina.
This year, the firm was proud to support William Applegate’s son, Sam, who participated as a candidate in LLS’s Charleston Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign. Spanning February and March, the annual seven-week leadership development and fundraising program helps ensure blood cancer patients not only survive treatment but thrive afterward. This year’s campaign raised over $425,000.
Says Sam, “I have learned the significance of the integral role this organization plays in funding cutting-edge cancer research, as well as supporting the families of blood cancer patients in their greatest times of need.”
