Based in Greenville, South Carolina, Megan M. Early-Soppa is a seasoned trial lawyer and a passionate, relentless advocate for those she represents. Known for her care, quick wit, and creative spirit, she helps her clients navigate the complexities of the legal system at a time when they need an ally the most.

Megan’s joining Yarborough Applegate in 2024 brought her from the defense to the plaintiff’s side. Having honed her litigation skills on complex insurance defense cases across the country, particularly in the transportation industry, she approaches her plaintiff practice with a unique understanding of defense strategies. This invaluable firsthand knowledge equips her to craft innovative legal arguments that resonate with judges, juries, mediators, and other legal professionals, and serve as an unwavering advocate for victims of negligent conduct.

She has been named to Super Lawyers Rising Stars in Transportation/Maritime for three consecutive years (2021, 2022, 2023) and has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America as “Ones to Watch” in Transportation Litigation and Commercial Litigation. She is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, Louisiana Bar Association, and Georgia Bar Association. Her commitment to fostering inclusivity and well-being within the legal profession has inspired her involvement in committees, including the SC Bar’s Diversity Committee, Wellness Committee, and Young Lawyers Section.

Megan’s dedication to service extends beyond the courtroom to local and global community organizations. She has most recently served as chairwoman for both Euphoria Greenville and South Carolina-based Hispanic Alliance and currently sits on the Board of Directors for international nonprofit BLUME Haiti. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.

Megan earned a Juris Doctor from Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she graduated cum laude. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Intercultural Studies for Business in Spanish from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Outside of the office, she enjoys keeping active as a Peloton enthusiast and competitive powerlifter, where she holds state records for bench press and deadlift. Her family—including her husband, Philipp, and their son, Sunday—play an integral role in her life beyond the legal arena.

What is Insurance Bad Faith?

In South Carolina, insurance coverage is a necessary part of life—from home to auto, life to long-term care. We take out policies and work hard to pay our monthly premiums, trusting that should we need to file a claim, our insurer will be there for us. Unfortunately, that isn’t always the case.
