Yarborough Applegate Supports New Charleston Mental Health Nonprofit Quest in Recovery

Posted: October 25, 2022

Earlier this month, the Yarborough Applegate team joined fellow community members to celebrate the launch of Charleston mental health support nonprofit Quest in Recovery. We were excited to support the important cause as a sponsor of the event, which was held in downtown Charleston.

Quest in Recovery is a peer-supported resource for those struggling with mental health issues ranging from depression to unhealthy habits to substance abuse issues. It connects individuals with peers and allies and gets them involved in recreation, education, and community service resources. Ultimately, it aims to shift the narrative around mental health by assembling a community that collectively takes pride in the power of their recovery stories, and casts aside the shame and isolation that for too long have weighed down mental health conversations.

At Yarborough Applegate, we have seen firsthand how traumatic events and compounding stress can result in debilitating anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions.  We aim to help victims see a brighter future through our legal work each and every day.

“While we are hired to obtain a financial recovery for our clients, we often find ourselves in the informal roles of counselor, therapist, confidant, life coach, and even financial advisor.  But we know it doesn’t take the loss of a loved one or a catastrophic injury to bring on mental health issues,” says founding partner David Yarborough. “When we stand together as a community, we can make a difference in the lives of those who are suffering by helping them understand they are not alone and there is a solution. We hope to do our part to encourage victims that asking for help is never a sign of weakness—it’s one of the bravest things you can do.”

The kickoff included the official premiere of the Quest film The Gift of Recovery. Eager to start making an impact, Quest in Recovery launched its Mentor Program and first recreational offerings  immediately following the event. Collaboration is key to Quest in Recovery’s mission. There are many ways you can get involved and make a difference, from serving as a Mentor or Community Ally to hosting an awareness event. We hope you will join us. Learn more here
