An Exciting Re-Election and Continuing to Lead the Pack on Insurance Bad Faith: Highlights from the 2023 SCAJ Annual Convention

Posted: August 18, 2023

South Carolina Association for Justice’s 2023 Annual Convention brought trial attorneys from across the state together for three days of legal seminars and professional networking on Hilton Head Island. Our team was thrilled to once again take part. This year, founding partner David Yarborough was among the select group asked to lead a legal seminar, while attorney Liam Duffy organized and hosted the Young Lawyers Seminar portion of the weekend.

During the convention, held August 5-7, Duffy was re-elected to a one-year term as chairperson of the SCAJ Young Lawyers Section. It’s a post he’s held since 2020.

Meanwhile, Yarborough’s seminar, “Insurance Bad Faith: Expect Delays Ahead,” covered key insights and strategies for navigating insurance bad faith cases. It’s a practice area Yarborough has become synonymous with in South Carolina through major results and his co-authorship, along with attorney Reynolds Blakenship, of the state’s first-ever playbook on the subject: Insurance Bad Faith: A Primer on the Law in South Carolina

ABOUT SOUTH CAROLINA ASSOCIATION FOR JUSTICE

Since its 1957 founding by a small group of trial lawyers, SCAJ has brought together those dedicated to protecting the rights of individuals who are harmed by the actions of others. Today, its statewide membership has grown to more than 1,200. SCAJ’s motto, “Advocates for Fairness Under the Law,” illustrates its simple, ringing mission of trial lawyers serving those they have sworn to protect.
