Verdict in Condemnation Case

The Case: Yarborough Applegate represented a landowner in a takings case where the County of Charleston and the Town of Mount Pleasant condemned a portion of a landowner's property and made alterations to its surroundings, causing major damage to the value of the landowner's property. The Town of Mount Pleasant offered $20,000 to the Plaintiff for taking its property and the County of Charleston refused to offer the landowner any compensation for the damage to their property.

The Outcome: After almost 3 years of litigation, this case was tried in Charleston County and a jury awarded the Landowner $401,000 in damages as well as $145,000 in costs and fees.
