Settlement Reached In Wrongful Death Case

The Case: Our client was a 21-year-old permanent resident of the Pee Dee Regional Center in Florence, South Carolina. The Pee Dee Regional Center is owned and operated by the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs. Our client suffered from autism, among other medical and mental health conditions, and became a resident of the Pee Dee Regional Center in 2003. In this lawsuit the Plaintiff alleged that on or about December 12, 2013, she was improperly restrained by employees of the Pee Dee Regional Center and died as a result of compressional and/or positional as asphyxia.
