Settlement for Apartment Pool Drowning

The Case: After a three-year-old child tragically died in a Hanahan, South Carolina,
apartment complex pool drowning, we filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the apartment complex.

The Outcome: Yarborough Applegate found that the pool was not properly equipped with a self-closing or self-latching gate, despite a South Carolina law requiring one on all public pools. In addition, the pool was not covered with a commercial-grade cover nor did the complex have a Certified Pool Operator at the time of the drowning.

While there is no adequate compensation for such a situation, we were committed to finding the truth for this family and holding the apartment complex accountable.
