The Outcome: To secure justice for the couple, we took on Unifi, a publicly-traded manufacturing company based in Greensboro, North Carolina. Unifi has its own private fleet of approximately 60 tractor trailer trucks.
The two-year legal battle went all the way to trial in federal court before a $3.75 million settlement was reached. Most notably, the settlement requires Unifi to ban cell phone use by its commercial drivers, setting a precedent that will permanently transform safety procedures in the trucking industry.
