Susie brings excellent organization and communication skills to Yarborough Applegate. She has a passion for helping others and treats each client’s case uniquely and respectfully. Before joining our team, Susie assisted attorneys at the Federal Defender Program in Chicago and Hammond, Indiana, for nearly nine years. There she assisted attorneys, investigators, and mitigation specialists in discovery review, client relations, and case management.
Susie earned her bachelor’s degree at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. She majored in history with a minor in art and design. She furthered her education while working at the Federal Defender Program, earning her Paralegal Certificate at Roosevelt University in Chicago and earning the title of Registered Paralegal through the National Federation of Paralegals Association, of which she is a member. During her time in Chicago, she was also a member of the Illinois Paralegal Association. Enthusiastic about the prospect of better assisting clients, she continues her legal education by attending conferences and seminars that focus on furthering her knowledge of the cases she works on.
Susie thrives on an active lifestyle, including traveling, exercising, visiting museums, and taking on DIY projects. She has a life-long passion for softball and other athletics, and enjoyed a period of coaching softball. In her free time, you can find her spending time with canine friends, reading, and viewing historical architecture—one of the reasons Susie connected with Charleston on her many visits here and knew this would one day be home.
