Yarborough Applegate Is Proud To Support The North Charleston High School Basketball Team

Posted: May 7, 2019

For the last five years, Yarborough Applegate has proudly served as the North Charleston High School basketball team’s financial benefactor. We first met Coach Christopher Brown in 2015, and watching the basketball program’s growth under his leadership has been tremendously rewarding. Brown goes above and beyond for his players every day, and we’re honored to help support those efforts.

Yarborough Applegate’s yearly donations provide the players dress clothes for game days, support training camp costs, and costs for tournaments in Atlanta, Hilton Head, and Chapin. Some of these funds also contribute to team outings like off-season dinners that help build community when the team is not able to practice together.

David Yarborough, partner at the firm, shares, “Coach Brown is an amazing man who grew this team into two-time champions. He impressed us and secured our support, allowing the boys to have coats and ties to wear on game days, attend summer camps, and other exciting opportunities. Coach Brown is like a father to many of these boys, and extends into their lives far beyond just being their basketball coach.”

Both on and off the court, it is clear that Coach Brown’s efforts are not going unnoticed. After averaging 80 points a game and scoring 100 several times, the team finished their last season 18-8, and made it to the state playoffs. Three players signed for college teams on signing day, and the team continued its streak of sending off a handful of seniors with college scholarships. As the team looks ahead to next season, tryouts were packed, and Coach Brown brought three Division One recruits on board.

Soon, the team will head to training camps in preparation for the upcoming year. We wish them well as begin a new fall season.
