National Brain Injury Awareness Month

Posted: March 8, 2016

According to the Brain Injury Association of America, 137 people in the U.S. die because of a traumatic brain injury every day and more than 3.5 million people sustain a brain injury every year.

The month of March is recognized as Brain Injury Awareness Month to promote awareness, foster research, and prevent future injuries.

At Yarborough Applegate, we are committed to doing our part to promote awareness. As a personal injury law firm that handles traumatic brain injury (TBI) cases, we understand the challenges a brain injury presents, and more importantly, how to help.

Below are some of the best resources for understanding brain injuries:

CDC HEADS UP
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention developed Heads Up as a series of educational initiatives aimed at protecting kids and teens from sustaining concussions and other serious brain injuries. There are free resources available for parents, youth sports organizers, school sports organizers, school administrators, and medical providers.

Brain Injury Association of America
BIAA is the oldest and largest nationwide brain injury advocacy group organization. Their site contains resources for those living with brain injuries, information on advocacy and government affairs relating to brain injuries and ways to get involved.

Children’s Safety Network Traumatic Brain Injuries
The Children’s Safety Network’s Traumatic Brain Injuries topic page contains publications by the CSN addressing TBI, webinars and prevention resources.

Our law firm has a long track record of success in attaining justice for victims of traumatic brain injuries. If you or a family member has suffered a brain injury, contact us – we are here to help.
