Giving a Dram: Yarborough Applegate Attorneys Share Insights on Representing Victims of Drunk Driving in November
Yarborough Applegate is proud to be the leading firm in South Carolina for dram shop and victims of drunk driving cases. Dram shop, a niche area of tort law, holds bars and other alcohol retailers accountable for injuries or death caused in part by the unsafe service of alcohol to customers. In addition to literally writing the book on this topic, in 2021 alone our team has obtained more than $45 million in dram shop settlements and judgments for our clients.
This fall, we’ve been busy preparing cases and securing results for those who have suffered an injury or loss after an over-served individual got behind the wheel of a car. Next month, our attorneys will take the lead on educating our peers on what we’ve learned from handling these cases through a series of continuing education opportunities. Read on for more details about each of the programs and to find out how you can sign up.
Founding partner David Yarborough will join CaseMetrix to discuss how attorneys can find additional sources of recovery for catastrophically injured clients through South Carolina’s dram shop laws. Attendees will learn when, where, and how to look for a dram shop case—and what to do when they have one.
The free one-hour webinar begins at 10 a.m. and is open to all attorneys, regardless of practice area. Learn more and register here.
During a South Carolina Bar Dram Shop CLE, Yarborough Applegate partners David Yarborough and David Lail will again present on the topic of “Alcohol Liability Law in South Carolina and Litigating the Dram Shop Case from the Plaintiff’s Perspective.” The day-long event, organized by Yarborough Applegate and Savage Law Firm, is designed to provide both plaintiff and defense counsel with tools and resources to prosecute and defend these cases.
Read more about the event and register on the South Carolina Bar website.
The following week, legal education hub Strafford will host David Lail on a panel discussing dram shop liability issues. The 90-minute CLE, titled “Dram Shop Liability: Bar, Restaurant, and Individual Exposure for Over-Serving Customers and Guests,” will include an interactive Q&A.
