Attorney Liam Duffy Presents on Workplace Injury Cases at SC Bar CLE
Yarborough Applegate attorney Liam Duffy was recently invited to present on workplace injury cases at the South Carolina Bar’s “Secrets to a Successful Plaintiff’s Personal Injury Practice: Learning to Evaluate Cases and Maximize Results” seminar. The professional learning event was held in Columbia, South Carolina, on February 24.
The CLE (continuing legal education) was on the topic of handling personal injury cases. Legal professionals shared tips on how to maximize results while exposing attendees to different types of specialties within the personal injury world. Duffy’s talk focused on identifying and maximizing third-party workplace injury claims. He detailed how one can identify these cases, their legal nuances, strategies for developing and uncovering key evidence, and trial techniques and considerations that are unique to these types of cases.
As part of his presentation, Duffy revisited several third-party injury and death cases in which he and the Yarborough Applegate team have sought and obtained significant recovery outside of the workers’ compensation system. These include a $21 million jury verdict in an electrocution case, a $2.35 million settlement in a construction site stair collapse case, scaffolding falls/defects, product liability cases, and other catastrophic workplace injury events.
