Attorney Liam Duffy Presents on Catastrophic Workplace Injury Cases at IWA Annual Convention

Last weekend, Yarborough Applegate’s own Liam Duffy was invited to present at the Injured Workers Advocates Annual Convention in Asheville, North Carolina. Attending the convention were workers compensation attorneys from across South Carolina. Duffy’s presentation detailed the ways these attorneys can push to obtain full justice for their clients by identifying workplace injury cases that involve the negligence of a third-party.

In such cases, a catastrophically injured victim has an important legal avenue to pursue beyond the workers compensation system: third-party workplace negligence claims. Though South Carolina’s law in this area has been clarified in recent years, there are still nuances that many attorneys overlook or fail to fully grasp. It’s a familiar practice area for our team at Yarborough Applegate, and we’re endlessly grateful for opportunities to share our hard-earned insights with our peers as we work to collectively build a stronger path to justice for victims.

We have helped hold many third parties accountable for their negligence on jobsites, from a Maryland power company that failed to secure safe working conditions at one of its substations to a South Carolina concrete plant that failed to abide by safety policies and procedures, resulting in the death of an elevator repairman.

If you or a loved one has been injured on the job, the immediate and long-lasting effects can be overwhelming. We understand. Yarborough Applegate’s experienced workplace injury attorneys will be your advocate and help you secure the compensation you deserve.
