Yarborough Applegate’s Caitlin Clancy Presents at AIEG Paralegal Seminar

Posted: February 15, 2022

Yarborough Applegate paralegal Caitlin Clancy recently presented on the topic of improving mental health in the legal workplace at the Attorney Information Exchange Group’s (AIEG) 2022 Paralegal Seminar. The annual event is an opportunity for paralegals to share insights, talents, and passion, equipping each to be even better prepared to advocate for their clients.

Mental health is an acute issue in the legal profession, particularly in the high-stress work environment of serious injury and wrongful death litigation. It’s a stark reality only heightened by additional stressors from the Covid-19 pandemic. In her presentation “It Was a Tough Day,” Clancy spoke to attendees about the importance of prioritizing mental health and wellbeing across the industry.

“In our line of work, we deal with other people’s traumas every day,” Clancy says. “Our clients come to us during their lowest moments, after suffering life-changing injuries or the loss of a loved one. We represent them tirelessly and are truly there for them in their time of need. Dealing with trauma at this level can weigh heavily on anyone, so it’s critical we learn to take care of ourselves at the same time.”

AIEG’s mission is to improve the ability of its members to represent those harmed in a wide variety of public safety-related topics integral to motor vehicle products liability, roadway design neglect, consumer product defects, and trucking safety issues. In carrying out this mission—and operating under its “Success Through Sharing” mantra— the national organization facilitates the sharing of information, experiences, and effective litigation practices among its members.

The AIEG Paralegal Seminar was held earlier February 3-4, 2022 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The list of speakers included talented paralegals and attorneys from some of the top plaintiff’s product liability firms across the country.
