Yarborough Applegate Attorneys Liam Duffy and Alex Heaton Present at 2024 SCAJ Annual Convention

Posted: August 30, 2024

Team Yarborough Applegate joined attorneys from across the state for another action-packed South Carolina Association for Justice (SCAJ) Annual Convention earlier this month. Held in Hilton Head, the multi-day event featured a dozen seminars delivered by leading legal experts on topics spanning ethics, torts and negligence, workers compensation, employment law, social security, and environmental law.

Attorney Liam Duffy assembled the speaker selection in one of his final events as chair of SCAJ’s Young Lawyers Seminar. During the convention, he passed off the Young Lawyers Chair baton, but was elected incoming chair of the group’s new LegalTech section. He will remain on SCAJ’s Board of Governors in that role.

Duffy also participated as a presenter, sharing insights on visual storytelling and creating powerful demonstrative evidence to enhance case value. Meanwhile, attorney Alex Heaton kicked off Friday’s sessions with the first “Litigation at Sunrise – A One Day Seminar in One Hour,” during which she discussed delivering justice in Yarborough Applegate’s landmark suit against Amazon, a case that culminated in a $44.6 million jury verdict against the tech giant.

YARBOROUGH APPLEGATE AND SOUTH CAROLINA ASSOCIATION FOR JUSTICE

SCAJ’s Annual Convention is an event our team looks forward to every year. It presents an incredible opportunity to gather with some of our state’s brightest legal minds and collectively advance the profession as we teach, share, and learn from one another.

A member-based organization, the South Carolina Association for Justice exists to protect the legal rights of the state’s citizens. At Yarborough Applegate, our attorneys are proud to not only be SCAJ members, but leaders with a passion for actively contributing to the organization.
