Liam Duffy Speaks at Charleston School of Law

Posted: February 18, 2020

Yarborough Applegate’s Liam Duffy was invited to speak to first-year law students at the Charleston School of Law on February 17. His talk focused on trial advocacy, motions practice and presenting persuasive arguments to a judge and jury.

As a personal injury attorney and trial lawyer, Duffy’s talk centered on practical and effective ways that students and lawyers can improve their written and oral advocacy skills. Among other things, the students—who are preparing for mock oral arguments—learned the importance of issue framing, anticipating counterarguments and safeguarding their credibility at all times. Duffy also spoke on how to overcome adverse evidence and set yourself up for success at (or before) trial through extensive preparation.

Yarborough Applegate is proud to volunteer our time with many local school and community programs. If you are interested in learning more about personal injury law, contact Yarborough Applegate today.
