David Yarborough Voted into American Board of Trial Advocates

David Yarborough was voted into the Charleston chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) on Saturday, June 20, 2020 by the ABOTA National Board, making him one of a select group of members in the state of South Carolina.

An invitation-only organization, ABOTA is a national association of experienced trial lawyers and judges dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the civil jury trial right. According to the ABOTA website, their ultimate goal is to “foster improvement in the ethical and technical standards of practice in the field of advocacy to the end that individual litigants may receive more effective representation and the general public be benefited by more efficient administration of justice consistent with time-tested and traditional principles of litigation.”

Membership consists of only of experienced trial lawyers, equally balanced between plaintiff and defense, as well as judges spread across all 50 states and in the District of Columbia. Members must be nominated and invited to join by the local chapter, then go through an application and vetting process that involves approval at both the local and national levels; all members must exhibit the virtues of civility, integrity and professionalism.
